Caffeine content in non alcohol beverages varies by brand, but the U.S. Food and Drug Administration limits the maximum amount in soft drinks to 6 mg/ounce. Therefore, the most caffeine allowed in a 12 oz can of soft drinks is 72 mg. Mountain Dew contains 55 mg of caffeine... well below the FDA's limit.
